  • Here’s my frustration for the moment: Why does a perfectly lovely duet have to be ruined by knowledge of the fact that the singers are separated in age by about forty years? Try as I may to not do so, I keep visualizing the actual singers singing this song and it just kills any chemistry the song has. However, I think I’ve got a story to force it into so I can now better visualize two people in their 20s singing it rather than a 20-year-old and a 60-year-old. Okay, so I only got 3 hours of sleep last night and I’m dead tired. I still have too much to do, most of it consisting of writing an article on a retired professor who passed away recently. But I’ll take time out for this:

    BEST SOUND

    The Nominees Are:

    • Chicago

    • Gangs of New York

    • The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

    • Road to Perdition

    • Spider-Man

Erin’s Pick: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

Marisa’s Pick: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

The Winner Last Year Was: Black Hawk Down

Is there really that much to say about sound (no pun intended)? Marisa was frustrated that they were making her choose between Two Towers and Spider-Man, but other than that, the choice was pretty much arbitrary. From what I can tell, though, this award always seems to go to the loudest nominee.
