  • It turns out Catherine Zeta-Jones is going to sing and dance at the Oscars. I’m not sure how she’s going to dance when she’s eight-and-a-half months pregnant. However, her healthy, not pregnant costar Renee Zelleweger chickened out, so Queen Latifah’s singing her part. But I digress. Onto more fun stuff:

    BEST ACTRESS

    The Nominees Are:

    • Salma Hayek (Frida)

    • Nicole Kidman (The Hours)

    • Diane Lane (Unfaithful)

    • Julianne Moore (Far From Heaven)

    • Renee Zellweger (Chicago)

    Erin’s Pick: Salma Hayek (Frida)

    Marisa’s Pick: Salma Hayek (Frida)

The Winner Last Year Was: Halle Berry (Monster’s Ball)

As I said yesterday, I found Renee Zellweger’s performance to be somewhat lacking (although not enough for me to call her a bad actress or anything), so I went with Salma Hayek, whom I like, although I haven’t seen Frida.

    BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

    The Nominees Are:

    • Chris Cooper (Adaptation)

    • Ed Harris (The Hours)

    • Paul Newman (Road to Perdition)

    • John C. Reilly (Chicago)

    • Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can)

Erin’s Pick: Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can)

Marisa’s Pick: Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can)

The Winner Last Year Was: Jim Broadbent (Iris)

Yeah, I know Christopher Walken creeps everyone out, but he did really well in Catch Me If You Can. Unfortunately, no one except us seems to want to acknowledge it. If the critics are correct, the award’ll go to Chris Cooper. I got turned off Adaptation when the “cinema purists” (as I like to call the Cinema majors who believe that a movie is only good if it cost less than 10 million dollars to produce, makes fun of society, and at least one actor plays against type) started getting all starry-eyed about it and letting me know about it. So I plead to you now: Give Christopher Walken a chance.
