  • Weird Thing I Saw Today: This is a brief one, but it’s one of the strangest ones yet, and to make up for the brevity, I've added pictures. I was driving downtown on my way to MUO today when I noticed a guy dressed like Sherlock Holmes (hat, jacket, and all) riding one of those Segway scooters in the direction of the Owens Corning World Headquarters. See accompanying photos (and yes, they are meant to be representations of what I saw; I did NOT actually take the guy's picture):

In the coming days, if I see Hercule Poirot on a pocket bike, or Miss Marple riding a Hoverboard, I'll let you know (yes, I watched Back to the Future recently).

By the way, the “Ugly Kids” mystery has been solved. Actually, it was solved weeks ago, but I’ve been too lazy/forgetful to report it. And the answer is: Ugly kids become radio dee-jays.”

    Some other brief updates:

My grandpa (who turned 90 last week) fell yesterday while running a shop vac in the garage. He landed on his face and hand, and my grandma was at her volunteer job at the  nursing home (she teaches a sewing class once a week), so his neighbor across the street called an ambulance. Luckily all he ended up with was a (minor) broken nose, a badly bruised forehead and hand (oddly enough, my grandma also suffered a badly bruised hand about six weeks ago), and maybe a slight concussion. He stayed overnight at the hospital, but he’s home now.

And as for Abbey, not only is she still alive, she’s doing a LOT better. My mom gave her some penicillin because her eyes were all runny and nasty-looking, and that (or the gravy) seemed to really perk her up. She still looks awful, though. It’s like her body is ready to go, but she’s not (she’s always been a fighter, though, so I guess that was to be expected).

I’ve been on a West Wing spree lately. It figures, since I only watched every once in a great while during its run and now that there are only two episodes left I find myself drawn to it. Now I gotta catch up on seven seasons worth of episodes. Luckily, the library has seasons 1-5 on DVD. Season 1 seems to have gone AWOL again (according to the library catalog, it was due April 26; before that it had been due April 3. I’m hoping it wasn’t checked out both times by the same person, cuz their fine’s gotta be up to 50 bucks by now), so I checked out seasons 2 and 3 today, so I guess that’s how I’ll be spending my weekend.
