Month: December 2002

  • I seem to be on a roll here. I got this on AbbyNormal's site and I really couldn't resist because of the musical theme.

    1. Reminds you of an ex-lover/boyfriend: N/A

    2. Reminds you of an ex-friend:  I don't really have any ex-friends, so I can't answer this one either

    3. Reminds you of your childhood:  That's What Love is For-Amy Grant (simply because that was my favorite song when I was a kid)

    4. Makes you cry: Nothing right now (although Styx's "Dear John" used to)

    5. Makes you laugh: "They're Coming to Take Me Away Ha Ha"-Napoleon XIV

    6. Makes you wanna dance:  "Thriller" (Michael Jackson)

    7. Reminds you of the one you're with:  "All By Myself"-Celine Dion (Not really, but there is no one else in the room right now, so the title fits)

    8. Makes you very, very sleepy:  "Un Amore Per Sempre"-Josh Groban (Sleepy as in relaxed, not bored)

    9. You wish you wrote:  "Blue Collar Man"-Styx

    10. You wish had been written for you:  "Lady"-Styx

     11. Fills you with complete joy:  There is so much! But, if I had to pick one, I'd say Styx's "Come Sail Away".

    12. You never want to hear again:  There are too many! Most recently, though, would have to be Nelly's "Hot in Herre" (and he should learn how to spell)

    13. You want to get married to: "Everything I Do"-Bryan Adams; "The Search is Over" (Survivor)

    14. You want played at your funeral: "To Where You Are" (Josh Groban); "Until I Find You Again" (Richard Marx); "I Will Remember You" (Amy Grant)

    15. Makes you want to mosh/slam dance:  I don't think I am a mosh kinda person

    16. Sums up your teenage years:  "Moon and Back" (Savage Garden--at least part of it)

    17. You used to hate but now love: Beatles (although I wouldn't go so far as to say I LOVE them, but I am eternally thankful to them for reviving rock and roll)

    18. You like to wake up to:  Anything I like

    19. You like out of your parent's record collection:  My dad's classical music

    20. Your parents like out of your collection: My Ed Van Fleet stuff (a little)

    21. You love that you wouldn't know about if it wasn't for your friend(s):  the Rent soundtrack

    22. Makes you think of someone who died:  "I Will Remember You" (Amy Grant)

    23. You love the video more than the tune:  "Larger Than Life" (Backstreet Boys)

    24. Reminds you of your first crush: "Can't We Try" (Dan Hill & Vonda Shepard)

    25. Makes you want to scream and smash things: "Renegade" (Styx)

    26. Makes you think of the moon:  "Moon and Back" (Savage Garden)

    27. Makes you think of sex:  Anything with "sex" in the title; "Your Body's a Wonderland" (Jon Mayer); "You Make Me Wanna" (Yeah, I'm a dork--I forgot who sang this song)

    28. Makes you think of being alone:  "Broken Vow" (Lara Fabian); "I am a Rock" (Simon & Garfunkel); "No More Lonely Nights" (Paul McCartney)

    29. Describes a moment out of your life perfectly: I can't really come up with the name; I just remember it describing something perfectly

    30. Makes you think deeply:  Any song that I know the story behind

  • I got this off from Marisa's site. I can't resist these, so here goes:

    Relationships
Do you have a BF/GF? No

Do you have a crush? No
Longest relationship? I was six when I had my one and only boyfriend (I'm not sure if that counts, since I was only six, but since I've had no boyfriends since, I'll count it). That lasted about a year and a half.
How long was your shortest relationship? Since I've only had one relationship (see above), a year and a half

Who was your first love? I haven't had a first love yet (and this time I won't count my first grade relationship)
What do you miss about them? Since I haven't had a first love yet, I can't miss anything about them, so this question does not apply, and personally I think it is an unfair question to ask anyways.

    The Past
What is the one thing you would change about your past? Too many things...can't choose...

What is the biggest mistake you've made in your life? Instinctively thinking that everything said to me is a challenge and that I must defend myself

Last thing you heard: Michael J. Fox screaming (on TV)Last thing you saw: The computer screen
Last thing you said: "Oh, they ARE online."
Who is the last person you saw? My mom
Who is the last person you kissed? Probably some family member
Who is the last person you hugged? Laura (actually, she hugged me, but I guess it counts)
What is the last song you heard? Laura Pausini's "Recuerdame"

    The Present
What are you wearing? T-shirt and pajama bottoms

Who are you talking to? Nobody right now, unless you count talking to myself/the TV
What song are you listening to? Nothing, unless you count the "Back to the Future Part III" score that's accompanying the action in the movie
    Where are you? My room
Who are you with? By myself
Are you online? Yes (How could I be doing this if I wasn't????)

How are you feeling? A little nauseaous, but at the same time, massice amounts of inner peace and tranquility mixed in with some confusion and indecisiveness along with a slight trace of mellow euphoria. Oh yeah, more than a little frustrated (Had you worried there for a second, didn't I???).

    Future
What day is it tomorrow? Tuesday
What are you going to do after this? Go to bed
Who are you going to talk to? Probably my mom

Where are you going to go? Nowhere for now, but eventually my grandma's, probably

What is one of your dreams? That coveted Best Director Oscar...

Where will you be in 25 years? Hopefully I'll have decided which career path I'm doing, and that I'll be in the midst of massive success, respect, appreciation, wealth, and happiness in whichever field it is. Oh yeah, if I don't sound too greedy to ask for this as well, hopefully I'll be married (happily and lovingly and all the rest of that mushy romantic stuff which I must stop listing now before I throw up) and have two or three kids.

    Have You Ever
Drank? Sipped - but other wise no - I don't like alcohol.
    Smoked Pot? No.
Stolen? Not since I was 3
    Done anything illegal? Yes
Wanted to die? Only on a temporary basis (this a reference to a GREAT quote in Tom Sawyer)

Hit someone? Yes, but I prefer kicking in a REAL fight

    Other
Do you write in cursive or print? Print
    Are you a lefty or a righty?Righty

    Do you drive? No.
Do you have glasses or braces? I have glasses, but I usually wear my contacts instead

    Physical Appearance
What do you most like about your body? My wrists and hands-and MAYBE eye color (I can't say "eyes" becuase that would be sayin I like my nearsightedness and astigmatism and what idiot likes those???)

    And least? My thyroid
How many fillings do you have? Two or three
Do you think you're good-looking? No
Do other people often tell you that you are good-looking? Once or twice

Do you look like any celebrities? I think I'd know if I did, so I'm gonna guess that I don't

  • Merry Christmas everyone!!!

My Christmas break started off on a bad note, but it's gradually getting better. The "bad note" was that Monkey, one of our cats, died Friday morning. He was only six, but he'd been battling hepatitis and other problems for several months now. He seemed to be getting better, but on Wednesday night he took a turn for the worse. My mom took him to the vet on Thursday, and the vet was successful in stabilizing him and even getting him to eat on his own. However, he didn't last the night. The vet thinks that he was basically tired of being sick and just gave up. He was a sweet kitty, though. I'll miss him.

Other than that, things have been, at the worst, frustrating, and at best, good. I tried to tape an episode of something earlier this afternoon. It turned out to be the wrong episode, and there's mass confusion on the web as to when the right one airs. Also, we couldn't go to church tonight because there's a pretty significant snowstorm going on right now. I say it's frustrating because it's the only time I get to sing at full range. Christmas Eve at my church hasn't been quite the same since our old pastor left, though. Every year, he would sing "O Holy Night" from the choir loft. I wish someone had taped it some year, because he did THE most incredible rendition of that song (as much as it would shock some people, the versions of "O Holy Night" sung by Josh Groban and Michael Crawford pale in comparison to my church pastor's). But-I FINALLY GOT MY GUITAR!!!!!!!!

Well, it's 2:30 am, so I probably should go to bed. I'll probably post again sometime tomorrow. See ya then!!!

  • This has just seemed to be a bad week for a lot of people. First, AbbyNormal's grandma died on Friday, then Chris and Laura's dog Katy died over the weekend. My condolences go to all of you...

  • First of all, just a reminder to send in nominations for the dumbest commercial of the year. You've only got a week left, so hurry...

Second, everyone go on over and welcome by best friend Laura to Xanga.

  • Marisa made some ads for my Worst Commercial of 2002 campaign. Here they are:

So far, we have four nominations:

    1. The Pier 1 commercials with Kirstie Alley (submitted by JKJoker); They are charged with the crime of being annoying and ridiculous.

    2. Old Navy Family Fleece (submitted by Marisa); Old Navy commercials were always annoying, but Morgan Fairchild has taken this one to an all-time low. That and the fact that it's played at least 3 times every commercial break...if you haven't been tortured by it yet and you're a masochist you can watch it here.

    3. Hoover Floor Mate (submitted by Marisa); All I have to say about this commercial is that it should be sued by the entire nation of Australia.

    4. Progressive Car Insurance Plumber ad (submitted by my mom, who doesn't have a Xanga site); Basically, a plumber shows up at a guy's house to discover that it's completely flooded to about kiddie swimming pool level (the dog goes floating by on a dog bed, etc). However, the guy's a Progressive customer and he wants the plumber to give him his rate "plus the rates of 3 of his competitors" before he begins. Progressive really went overboard with this part of their website. Not only can you watch the commercial (plus some others), you can also watch outtakes of it. But, if you must, here's the link so you can go there.

I'm still accepting nominations, so keep sending them!!! For a review of the rules, scroll down. Keep 'em coming!!!
